P2. Cloud adoption should facilitate, not impede, the realization of our core mission

Service owners should not feel compelled to migrate workloads to the cloud in ways that might

  • adversely impact their service delivery,
  • add significant additional ongoing cost,
  • increase the amount of work it takes to deliver their mission,
  • needlessly increase the complexity of well-understood processes,

Moreover, teams should not adopt technologies that they are not ready to responsibly apply, simply because those technologies are in vogue.
